The magazine Nuevo Estilo features a report on the restoration project of Vallgornera Castle (Peralada), an intervention carried out by our studio that faithfully reflects the values that guide our approach to architecture: resprect for the past, dialogue with the surroundings and an honest perspective on built story.
The castle, a medieval fortress expanded in the 18th century, has been transformed into a boutique hotel that preserves the essence of its heritage while embracing contemporary comfort and functionality. The project prioritized a respectful restoration, with minimal interventions to preserve the authenticity of the original spaces and materials.
At Bangolo, we’ve worked to ensure that the castle’s new use does not erase its memory, but rather highlights its value. The interior intervention by Marta Sánchez (M Proyectos) and the integration of elements such as the original furniture from the owning family have helped create a serene, nuanced atmosphere where history and design coexist.
We’re especially thrilled that a publication like Nuevo Estilo has recognized this project, which for us is much more than a renovation: it’s a way of understanding architecture as a bridge between who we are and where we come from.
